George P. Chrousos, MD, MACP, MACE, FRCP, is Professor of Pediatrics and Endocrinology Emeritus at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

He holds the UNESCO Chair on Adolescent Health Care, is Director of the University Research Institute of Maternal and Child Health and Precision Medicine, and is President of the Hellenic Pasteur Institute. He pioneered studies that elucidated the effects of stress on the organism at the behavioural, neuroendocrine, cellular and molecular levels, and has performed seminal research on human development, particularly the years of puberty and adolescence.

He has received numerous major awards, including the Bodossaki Prize of Greece, the Fred Conrad Koch Award, the highest honour of the US Endocrine Society, and the Transatlantic Alliance Award of both the US Endocrine Society and the European Society of Endocrinology. He is an elected member of the Academia Europaea, the US National Academy of Medicine and the Academy of Athens, and is included among the top 100 cited physician-scientists in the world.
