The Prix Galien Awards were introduced in Greece for the first time on 2nd February 2013. The inaugural awards ceremony was held at the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron) under the auspices of His Excellency the President of the Hellenic Republic.

The Prix Galien Awards honor outstanding achievements that advance healthcare and improve patients’ lives through the development of innovative medicines, medical technologies, and diagnostic solutions. By recognizing scientific excellence and breakthrough innovation, the Awards celebrate the discoveries that have transformed—and continue to transform—modern medicine.

Regarded as the “Nobel Prize of the pharmaceutical industry,” the Prix Galien Awards are judged by distinguished scientists and leading experts from around the world, who identify and recognize the most significant pharmaceutical innovations of our time.

Established in France in 1970, the Prix Galien Awards have since expanded internationally and are presented in several countries across the globe. Greece became the 14th country to join this distinguished international institution, with the Awards taking place every two years.

Our ambition is for the Prix Galien Awards in Greece to continue highlighting the invaluable contribution of the pharmaceutical sector in our country, fostering scientific excellence and encouraging continued investment in research and innovation. Through the development of new therapies and technologies, these advances contribute to people’s longer, healthier, and better lives.
